Special Meeting of the RAA Update
Dear RPI Alumni,
Last week, we announced we would not be attending the Rensselaer Alumni Association’s (RAA) Special Meeting as they refused to comply with their Bylaws and follow the purpose of the very Petition that instigated the Special Meeting: to allow Renew Rensselaer to present its findings, and alumni members to introduce and vote on resolutions. Consequently, during Reunion & Homecoming (R&HC) last Friday, we attended the RAA Board meeting and gave members of the Board one final chance to do the right thing and allow us to present our findings at the upcoming Special Meeting. Several days later, the president of the RAA Board sent notification that they had agreed to let us present, albeit our presentation would be followed by a presentation from the administration. We were also told that resolutions would be allowed at the Special Meeting, despite having been told over a month earlier that they would not be entertained. While the RAA’s concessions were only announced less than a week before the meeting, we have decided to attend the Special Meeting to represent and educate alumni who are concerned with the current state of the Institute, looking for answers, and wanting to see positive change at RPI.
Also during R&HC, we held our own Informational Meeting in an effort to continue sharing our research, analysis, and proposals with fellow alumni. Many alumni commented that they felt more knowledgeable about issues of governance, academics, and finance at RPI.

The Special Meeting will take place at 8:30 am EDT on Monday, October 8th in the Harkness Room of the East Campus Athletic Village (ECAV). If you are unable to attend in person, it will be livestreamed by RPI TV and accessible via the following link:
RPI TV Livestream of Special Meeting
Please be sure to bookmark it ahead of Monday! The meeting will also be archived on our website and on RPI TV’s website for viewing after the meeting should you be unable to follow along in real time.
We look forward to presenting our research and analysis in addition to discussing our Platform with our alumni association, and we hope you will join us whether you are able to attend in person, or you are attending remotely by watching the livestream. Our goal from the start has been to identify the problem and be a part of the solution and with your help, we stand the best chance of affecting positive, lasting change at our alma mater.
Sincerely,
Renew Rensselaer
