Renew Rensselaer Files in Court
Dear RPI Alumni,
As part of our continuing efforts to restore the governance rights of all Rensselaer Alumni Association (RAA) members, Renew Rensselaer’s legal counsel filed a Verified Complaint with the New York Supreme Court in Rensselaer County this past week. The Complaint may be read in its entirety on the Renew Rensselaer website.
The Complaint was precipitated following countless attempts to work with the RAA Board toward facilitating free and fair elections of Board members. The RAA Board continues to assert that their current process, in which only one Board-approved nominee is permitted to run for each position, constitutes a free and fair election. Taking legal action would not have been possible without the financial support of many individuals. Renew Rensselaer recently received two very generous financial commitments from alumni supporters who have offered to match all new funds raised for legal expenses—up to a total of $6,000. We are very grateful for the continued support! We would appreciate any donation you want to make be made before the end of September.
